Keep a “Still Me” List
Why It Matters
A difficult workplace experience can sometimes become louder than what you know about yourself. Feedback, conflict, changes in responsibilities, or a stressful season may affect how you see your own abilities. Staying connected to what you know to be true about yourself helps separate your identity from what is happening around you.
Try This
Create a “Still Me” List. Write five things about yourself that your workplace does not get to redefine.
I am knowledgeable.
I am creative.
I am dependable.
I am kind.
I know my work.
Make the statements personal to you. Return to them when outside experiences start becoming louder than your own voice.
Quick Tip
Keep your list somewhere you can easily revisit it. Don't wait for a difficult day to remember who you are.
Reflect
What do you know about yourself that remains true, regardless of what happens at work?
