When the Work Finds You: A Reflection on Growth, Alignment, and the Moments That Matter
There are moments in leadership where you realize the work is no longer something you are chasing…
It begins to find you.
This week was one of those moments for me.
Not long ago, I found myself in a space that no longer felt aligned. I was doing the work, showing up, fulfilling responsibilities, but something felt off internally. There was a disconnect between who I was becoming and the space I was standing in.
And if I’m honest, that kind of season can be heavy.
It can make you question your purpose.
It can make you wonder if your voice still matters.
It can make you feel like you’re pouring into spaces that are no longer pouring back into you.
But even in that space, I kept doing the work.
Quietly.
Consistently.
With intention.
And then… something shifted.
This past Friday, I had the opportunity to present at a conference, my first large conference speaking engagement. I walked into that room carrying not just my presentation, but my experiences, my transitions, my questions, and my growth.
And what I experienced in return was something I didn’t even realize I needed.
The room was full.
The engagement was real.
The conversations were meaningful.
But more than anything…
It was the feeling of alignment.
Not forced.
Not performative.
Just… right.
After the session, something else began to happen.
Conversations turned into invitations.
Connections turned into opportunities.
Moments turned into movement.
I was invited to come back and speak.
Invited to support.
Invited to continue the work.
And in that moment, I realized something deeply important:
Sometimes, the work doesn’t come to you when you push harder.
It comes when you become more aligned.
This week reminded me that growth doesn’t always arrive loudly. It doesn’t always come with immediate recognition or clear direction.
Sometimes it comes in quiet confirmations:
A conversation that stays with you
A moment where people lean in
An invitation that simply says, “We see you.”
Those are the moments that matter.
As leaders, we often focus on outcomes, milestones, and measurable success. But what I’ve learned, especially this week, is that the real work of leadership lives in the spaces in between.
In the stillness.
In the reflection.
In the moments where you choose to keep going, even when things feel uncertain.
And when alignment finally meets preparation…
The work finds you.
Not because you forced it.
But because you were ready to receive it.
So wherever you are in your journey, whether you’re in a season of clarity or a season of questioning, I want to remind you:
Your work is not lost.
Your voice is not unseen.
Your impact is not unnoticed.
It may just be… becoming.
And when the time is right,
when the alignment is there,
when you are grounded in who you are becoming…
The work will find you.
