🌸 Mother’s Day Dedication: Growing Into Motherhood

From a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a mom.

But if I’m honest… it wasn’t always for the right reasons.
I wanted someone to love me, someone I could love, protect, and care for.

When I had my children, I did just that.
I nurtured them, provided for them, and made sure they had everything they needed.
I put them first, always. Even above my husband at the time.

Not because I expected anything in return…
but because I wanted to give them what I didn’t always receive.

Every Mother’s Day looked different for me back then.
My ex-husband believed he didn’t have to celebrate me, because I wasn’t his mother.

So instead, I created my own tradition.
With my cousins, my sister, my people.
We would go out, shop, eat, laugh… and just be.

And no… we didn’t spend that day with our children.
At the time, we felt like we gave so much of ourselves every day…
we needed one day to just breathe.

Some people judged that.
Maybe they still would.

But this year… something shifted.

My children are older now.
22 and almost 24.
They’ve grown. I’ve grown.

And for the first time, I’ve decided to spend Mother’s Day with them.
We’re having a cookout. Just being together. Sharing space.

I can’t fully explain what changed…
but I know this:

I’ve evolved.

I see them differently.
I appreciate them differently.
And I’m learning to embrace the moments, big and small.

Motherhood isn’t perfect.
We won’t always agree with our children’s choices.
But if we’re not careful… we can miss the little things.

And those little things?
They matter the most.

So this Mother’s Day, I just want to say:

💜 I am grateful
💜 I am growing
💜 I am still learning what it means to be a mother

Happy Mother’s Day.
Hug your children.
Appreciate the moment.
And if you’re blessed with another day with them… don’t miss it.
