Child Development: Mindfulness Games for Kids

Fun, classroom-ready activities

Why it matters:
Young children need simple, playful ways to calm big emotions and focus attention.

3 Easy Games:

  1. Balloon Breathing – Kids place their hands on their belly, breathe in to “inflate” the balloon, then slowly let it out.

  2. Listening Ears – Close eyes and count how many sounds they hear in 30 seconds.

  3. Calm Jars – Shake a jar filled with glitter and water. Watch it settle as a way to model calming down.

💡 Classroom Tip: Use these after recess or before transitions to reset energy.
