Do a Peace Comparison
Sometimes you don't recognize what an environment is doing to you until you compare how you feel in it with how you feel away from it.
Why It Matters:
We can become so accustomed to stress that tension starts feeling normal. Tight shoulders. Irritability. Dreading Monday. Watching the clock. Feeling exhausted before the day even begins.
Then you're away for a weekend, vacation, holiday, or even a quiet afternoon—and something changes.
You breathe differently. You sleep differently. You laugh more. Your body relaxes.
Don't dismiss the difference.
That difference is information.
Try This:
Check In on a Workday – Notice your body, mood, energy, thoughts, and patience. Don't try to change anything. Just notice.
Check In When You're Away – On a day off, ask yourself the same questions. How does your body feel? What's your energy like? What are you thinking about?
Compare the Pattern – Don't make a major conclusion from one difficult Monday or one wonderful Saturday. Look at what happens repeatedly over several weeks.
Quick Tip:
Instead of asking only, “Was today a good day or a bad day?” ask:
“Where do I consistently feel most like myself?”
Sometimes that's a much more revealing question.
Reflect:
What changes in you when you're away from the environments that demand the most from you?
