Why I Chose Silence First: The Power of Growing Without Feedback
When I started SILWELL-C, I knew I was building something that came from a very personal place, not a trend, not a brand for attention, but a mission rooted in wellness, leadership, and lived experience.
And yet, even with that clarity, I found myself afraid of one thing: feedback.
Not the kind that helps you grow, the kind that cuts too early. The kind that can make you second-guess your purpose before it has even found its footing. So when it came time to open my website, I did something most people don’t do.
I chose silence first.
Protecting My Peace in the Beginning
It wasn’t about hiding. It was about protecting the sacred space where new ideas are still finding their strength. I knew that in these early months of SILWELL-C, I needed to stay focused on my why, not on opinions, algorithms, or applause.
Choosing silence meant giving myself permission to grow without the noise.
It meant saying, “I trust my voice, even if it’s still learning how to speak publicly.”
And honestly, it helped me breathe. It helped me write, create, and share from a grounded place, one not shaken by fear of criticism or the need for approval.
What I Learned from Growing Quietly
Silence teaches you to listen differently.
You begin to notice the subtle forms of support, the quiet click, the email of thanks, the person who downloads a resource because they needed it that day.
You learn that impact doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it whispers.
And in that whisper, you find confirmation that your purpose is doing what it was meant to do: reach hearts, not headlines.
The Confidence That Quiet Builds
When you grow without feedback, you begin to learn what peace actually feels like. You begin to build confidence that’s rooted in purpose, not popularity.
For me, silence has become an integral part of my wellness practice.
It was leadership in action, the “L” in SILWELL-C lived out loud through boundaries, clarity, and mindfulness.
Now, I know that when I eventually open comments or community spaces, I’ll do it from a stronger place, one where my peace isn’t shaken by what others might say, because I’ve already done the work of listening inward.
A Reflection for You
If you’re building something new, a classroom vision, a small business, or even a better version of yourself, don’t be afraid to start quietly.
Sometimes the most powerful growth happens in the silence before the applause.
Sometimes the lesson is that you can trust your own voice first and let the rest come in its time.
Because silence isn’t weakness.
It’s wisdom.
And for me, it’s where I learned that wellness and leadership both begin with listening, not to the crowd, but to your own heart.
